Dead Battery at the OU Game? We Come to Norman Stadium Parking

You tailgated for four hours with the radio blasting and the trunk open. Maybe the dome light stayed on or you were running a portable speaker off the cigarette lighter. The game was great — or terrible — and now you're walking back to the Duck Pond lot at 10 PM with 80,000 other fans, and your car won't start. It happens more than you'd think.

Game Day Battery Failures Are Predictable

Most game day dead batteries aren't random failures. They follow a pattern:

  • Accessories running with the engine off: Radio, phone chargers, portable cooler plugged into the 12V outlet — all of these drain the battery while the alternator isn't charging it.
  • Dome lights and trunk lights left on: Pop the trunk to grab the cooler at 9 AM, close it almost all the way, and the trunk light stays on for six hours.
  • An already-weak battery pushed over the edge: A battery at 60% health can start the car fine under normal conditions but dies after three hours of accessory drain in a hot parking lot.

Where We've Rescued Fans

We've pulled into just about every parking area in Norman on game day. The Duck Pond lots east of the stadium are the most common calls, followed by the Lloyd Noble Center parking areas south of campus. We've also helped fans in the neighborhood street parking along Lindsey and Jenkins and in the private lots along Asp Avenue.

Traffic on game day is real, so we plan our routes accordingly. We know which streets open up first after the game and how to get to the stadium area without sitting in the worst of the postgame backup on I-35.

Same-Day Service, Even on Saturdays

We offer battery replacement seven days a week, including Saturdays during football season. When you call, we'll ask for your location in the parking area and your vehicle details. We carry a range of battery sizes in stock and can usually get to you within 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic conditions.

Our process is quick: test the old battery with a professional load tester, confirm whether it needs replacement or just a jump, install the new battery if needed, and test the charging system to make sure the alternator is doing its job. Total time on-site is usually 20 to 30 minutes.

A Jump Start Might Be Enough

If your battery is relatively new and you just drained it with accessories, a jump start may be all you need. We'll test it and tell you honestly. No one wants to buy a battery they don't need, and we'd rather earn your trust for next time than sell you something unnecessary.
